Course Objective and Content

Course Objectives: We are faced with a new technology, a new production and a new social structure.
In this process, which started with the communication revolution, the share of information in production increases and it gradually becomes the most important element. This process, which is generally accepted as "globalization", has been described by researchers from different perspectives and its different aspects have been brought to the fore. Although the dominant role played by states in the international arena still continues, new players have entered the stage with the process of globalization. While the international arena of struggle has transformed into a multi-stakeholder and multi-layered global arena, the concept of “Management” has evolved towards the concept of “Governance” in which many new actors are included in the game.
While management techniques are transforming into a contemporary form, the term "International Management" has been replaced by the term "Global Governance". The emergence of the global economy necessitated a global management approach in contemporary businesses. The aim of this course is to examine the globalization process and the factors affecting this process; To examine the global structures that emerged in this process and the "governance" approach that has become their management style.
Course Content: First of all, the globalization process will be discussed in detail and from its different aspects. While examining different perspectives towards globalization and their reasons, it is not only the political and cultural aspects of the process; The economic and technological aspects will also be discussed. Key concepts such as "international", "global", "management", "governance", "elements of governance", which constitute the name and content of the course, will be examined. The parts and actors of Global Governance, Management of Global Enterprises, Global Organizations and Management will be discussed and the sections related to our course will be examined. During these studies, it will be ensured that students prepare preliminary studies and presentations on the topics to be covered in the course in order to improve their research, analysis and presentation skills. With the participation of the students, the teaching method of the lesson will be provided with an interactive feature that includes mutual discussions. Therefore, weekly readings should be done before coming to the class.
