Course Objective and Content

Course Objectives: Students will have knowledge about the basic concepts of strategic management, strategic thinking and competition strategies, how to do situational analysis and how to interpret the results, how to develop, evaluate and select alternative strategies, how to develop and implement the strategies required for the implementation of the chosen strategy.
Course Content: Strategy and the concept of strategic management, characteristics of the strategic management process, stages of the strategic management process; analysis of external environment, environmental analysis techniques, analysis of internal environment, determination of corporate orientation, development of strategies, implementation of strategies, control of strategies. Strategic options in healthcare institutions; orientation strategies, adaptation strategies, market entry strategies, position strategies, operational strategies. Evaluation of strategies; SWOT analysis and Boston Advisory Group growth sharing matrix. Inter-agency cooperation strategies; purchasing, mutual cooperation strategies. Leadership techniques, theories of leadership, authority and power in healthcare institutions, organizational change and development, communication with social stakeholders.

Learning Outcomes

The students who have succeeded in this course;
1) Explains the basic elements of management in health institutions.
2) Counts the external and internal environmental factors, explains the effects of external and internal environmental factors on the health institution, applies the methods used in external and internal environmental analysis.
3) Explains the value chain model.
4) Determines the vision, mission, values, goals and objectives of the institution.
5) Counts and evaluates the strategies implemented in health institutions.
6) Develops plans for the implementation of strategies and evaluates the results.
