Course Objectives: | The aim of this course is to provide students the migration phenomena, the types of migration, the psychosocial impacts and outcomes of migration, the relation between migration and human rights and gender roles ideology, the acculturation processes of migrant groups and the research methods used in the area. |
Course Content: | The concept of migration, types of migration, the causes of migration,the psychological, social, economic and health related outcomes of migration, migration and human rights, acculturation models, intergroup relations, migration and gender, research evidence related to national and international migration projects, readings in migration research. |
The students who have succeeded in this course;
1) Comprehends the basic social psychological theories related to the psychology of migration. 2) Understands the social psychological processes underlying the reasons and the outcomes of migration. 3) Comprehends research methods used in migration research. 4) Distinguishes the acculturation strategies of migrant groups in Daily life. 5) Understands the relations between migrants and host culture members in terms of social psychological theories. |
