Course Objective and Content

Course Objectives: Aim of the course is to introduce students a wide range of mental disorders including anxiety, mood, somatic, dissociative, substance related, eating, personality and psychotic disorders, historical and contemporary paradigms to mental disorders and symptoms and etiology of each psychological disorder.
Course Content: Psychological disorders of adulthood, abnormal behavior, multidimensional classification system, protective and risk factors within the framework of adaptive and non-adaptive behaviors.

Learning Outcomes

The students who have succeeded in this course;
1) Students comprehends the historical and contemporary paradigms to mental disorders.
2) Students explains related concepts such as normality, abnormality, psychopathology, psychological syndrome.
3) Students lists main symptoms of some specific psychopathologies, presented in DSM-5.
4) Students comprehends the etiology of psychological disorders.
5) Discerns between specific symptoms and a mental disorder.
