Course Objective and Content

Course Objectives: The aim of this course is to introduce the basic concepts, principles and rules of experimental method and scientific approach and also to provide training for planning and evaluating psychology experiments.
Course Content: Research methods, experimental designs, ethical rules, designing an experimental research project, reading and writing a research report, psychophysics, perception, attention and response time, human factors, statistical thinking, analyzing the experimental data.

Learning Outcomes

The students who have succeeded in this course;
1) Explains basic concepts and principles of experimental method and scientific approach,
2) Discriminates easily between the experimental and non-experimental research designs.
3) Describes methodological properties of researches and evaluate the strong and weak points of experimental papers
4) Critically evaluates the ethical issues in experimental studies
5) Learns how to read and write experimental researches/studies.
