Course Objectives: | To introduce basic concepts and theories and subfields of social psychology, to provide understanding, evaluation and reporting skills for social events and phenomena. |
Course Content: | Social cognition, attitudes, persuasion and attitude change, social influence, attribution theory. |
The students who have succeeded in this course;
1) Knows the scientific nature of Social Psychology and causes of social behaviour and thought. 2) Explain basic research methods in social psychology and understand the role of theory in social psychology. 3) Having a scientific understanding of thinking, learning, critical thinking and reasoning skills 4) Automatic Thinking with Schemas and Types of Automatic Thinking. What are schemas and how they influence us. 5) Understanding the social influence phenomenon /Studying factors affecting conformity / Understanding why we conform and why sometimes we resist. 6) The Theory of Cognitive Dissonance 7) When and why attitudes influence behavior. |
