Course Objective and Content

Course Objectives: Have an overall understanding of the research process, including: development of hypotheses, selection of appropriate research designs. Be able to identify the basic features of different research designs.
Course Content: Scientific methods, ethics, descriptional methods – observation and survey methods, formation of a research question and hypothesis, sampling, correlational studies, experimental methods – independent sample designs, repeated measure designs, mixed designs, applied research - single-subject research methods, quasi experimental methods.

Learning Outcomes

The students who have succeeded in this course;
1) Knows the perspectives of natural and social sciences.
2) Knows the differences between quantitative and qualitative approaches.
3) Knows the ethic codes of scientific research.
4) Writes hypotheses and determines the appropriate research design in terms of research aims.
5) Assesses the main effect and interaction effects on matrixes and graphics.
