Course Objectives: | Introducing different approaches to explaining criminal behavior, understanding the variables of individuals who commit crimes and victims of crime, evaluating the information about how psychological science data is used in the field of crime prevention and crime intervention. |
Course Content: | Criminal behavior, psychological, biological, sociological factors involved in criminal behavior, history of the concept of crime, crime prone personality characteristics, relationship between crime and psychological disorders. |
The students who have succeeded in this course;
1) Evaluates a crime in terms of at least two different theories. 2) Associates mental health with criminal behavior and reactions of the victims of crime. 3) Discusses the principles of eyewitness testimony and interrogation in the context of cognitive psychology. 4) Lists recent findings about childhood and adolescence in terms of criminal behavior and victimisation. 5) Lists the approaches to predict criminal behavior. |
