Course Objective and Content

Course Objectives: The aim of the course for each student;
The aim of the course is to examine the students' behavior, behavior disorders, basic principles, function and process of psychiatric nursing, and to transfer the knowledge and skills gained in this field to practice.
Course Content: History, roles and responsibilities of mental health and psychiatric nursing, common mental disorders in the community and nursing care, treatment methods in mental illness and mental health and legal issues in psychiatric nursing

Learning Outcomes

The students who have succeeded in this course;
1) Define the concepts related to mental health and diseases
2) Use the concepts related to psychiatric nursing in the therapeutic environment
3) Recognize the emotional needs of the individual with mental disorder and evaluate his / her status
4) To be able to provide care for the mentally ill person according to the nursing process and to evaluate the results of care
5) Define the treatment methods for the individual with mental disorder
6) Developing new attitudes in line with psychiatric methods and principles

1) Understand the concepts and concepts related to the field of health at the undergraduate level, and have advanced theoretical and practical knowledge supported by textbooks, application tools and other sources of current information in the field of health.
2) Knowledge of nature, source, limits, accuracy, reliability and validity of knowledge.
