Course Objective and Content

Course Objectives: The basic concepts of nursing are the protection of the health of the individual / family and the society, the promotion and the diagnosis of the health problems, the learning of the nursing process which includes the planning and evaluation of appropriate interventions.
Course Content: Introduction of the course, The reason for the existence of nursing, Students' presentations on the state of nursing in their country, Concept of Human, Concept of Health /Illness, Concept of Environment, Concept of Nursing, Concept of Care, Professionalism in Nursing, Self-Concept -Self Esteem-Body Image, Power-Powerlessness, Hope-Hopelessness, Loss-Death-Grief-Bereavement

Learning Outcomes

The students who have succeeded in this course;
1) To explain the concepts of health and illness in the field of nursing
2) To know human, environment and nursing concepts.
3) To know the reason for existence and history of nursing.
4) To describe the roles of nursing.
5) To define concept of care
6) To discuss the nursing profession according to professionalization criteria.
7) To know the importance of self-concept, power/powerlessness, hope/hopeless, loss and grieving in nursing practice.
