Course Objective and Content

Course Objectives: In this course, it is aimed for students to know the mechanism of cancer, which is the basis of oncology nursing, the signs and symptoms of cancer, cancer treatment methods and side effects, the signs and symptoms of the most common cancers in our country, and the problems that the individual with cancer and her/his family experience due to diagnosis and treatment.
Course Content: This course; It covers the basic concepts, the roles and responsibilities of the oncology nurse, the etiology and epidemiology of cancer, the diagnosis of cancer patients, the use of different treatment methods and effective nursing interventions in the management of their side effects.

2) Defines the basic concepts of oncology nursing.
3) Explains the biology of cancer and influencing factors
4) Understands the importance of risk factors, prevention and early diagnosis in cancer.
5) Understands the roles and responsibilities of nurses in cancer treatment methods (chemotherapy, radiotherapy).
6) Learns symptom control in oncology nursing.
7) Learns care practices for hematological problems in oncology nursing.
8) Learns care practices for gastrointestinal problems in oncology nursing.
9) Learns care practices for psychological problems in oncology nursing.
10) Defines the problems and needs of the patient and her/his family in the process.
