Course Objective and Content

Course Objectives: The aim of this course is to provide a patient/healthy individual with the necessary knowledge and skills to conduct a comprehensive health assessment by using the principles of interview, taking a history, and using inspection, palpation, percussion and auscultation skills. With this course, the student learns how to take and document a comprehensive history in the clinical field and evaluation of skin, hair and nails, eyes ear, nose, mouth and throat, thorax and lungs, cardiovascular system, breast, abdominal and neurological system. Learns how to classify and interpret the data obtained from head-to-toe examination as normal or deviation from normal, and also how to relate it to the patient care plan.
Course Content: Health assessment and the role of the nurse, physical examination methods, history taking with a holistic approach, psychosocial and physical assessment, analyzing data, interpreting and recording normal and abnormal findings.

Learning Outcomes

The students who have succeeded in this course;

4) 4) To learn physical assessment techniques (inspection, palpation, percussion, auscultation) correctly.
5) 5) To learn the evaluation of a comprehensive health assessment from head to toe (skin, head, neck, eyes, nose, mouth, throat, chest and lungs, heart and peripheral vessels, abdomen, extremities, neurological system).
