Course Objective and Content

Course Objectives: The aim of the course for each student;
The aim of the course is to give the students the importance of nutrition for human life and health, its definition, energy and nutrients, daily needs, nutrient resources and inadequacy in the direction of scientific studies.
Course Content: Adequate and balanced nutrition, nutrients and the interaction of health, importance of nutrition in the nutrients, nutrient sources, daily needs of the body, energy, energy substrates (carbohydrates, proteins and fats) energy generation, energy requirements according to age and gender, the importance of vitamins in nutrition , classifications, nutrient sources, use in the body, daily necessities, elderly, athletes, pregnant and lactating, workers' energy, nutrient requirements and nutrition-health interactions in these groups.

Learning Outcomes

The students who have succeeded in this course;
1) To be able to comprehend the importance of energy, macro nutrients (carbohydrate, protein, fat) and micronutrients (vitamins and minerals) in healthy nutrition and body work
2) Define the dietary sources, metabolism and deficiency of macronutrients and their needs according to different age and gender.
3) To be able to evaluate nutrients in terms of macro and micro nutrient content
4) To be able to have basic knowledge about feeding of special groups (elderly, workers, pregnant and nurses, athletes) who are more at risk in terms of nutrition
