Course Objective and Content

Course Objectives: This is an introductory course designed to help you develop an understanding and awareness of the essentials of managing and of the way organizations behave; and to provide students an overview of the field of management, and insights into the concept of organizational structure. By understanding how the managerial theory have evolved and by exploring the four pillars of management: planning, organizing, leading, and controlling, and we will discover how organizations leverage their scarce resources to achieve their goals.
Course Content: This course encompasses basic management and business administration concepts; It covers the organizational environment and its variables, the stages of the management in the past and their reflections to the present, managerial functions and contemporary business practices

1) Defines management and related concepts, explain the relationships between them
2) Understands the evolutionary process of management theories and can make connections
3) Describes the major components of the organization’s internal and external environments, their effect, significance, and impact on an organization
4) Explains how decisions are made in an organization, including types of decisions to be made, problem definition, and various approaches to decision making.
5) Comprehends managerial functions
6) Defines basic business concepts, principles and values that contribute to organizational performance.
7) Reveals the subsystems within the business and the relationships between them
8) Knows post-modern management concepts
