Course Objectives: | This course is the first step in modeling and optimizing real-life systems. It aims to introduce students to linear programming problems (LPP) and to teach the solution methods of different LPPs . Students will also be familiar with concepts such as sensitivity analysis and duality , and will learn to apply LP to problems such as networking, assignment, and transport. |
Course Content: | Introduction to operations research and linear programming (LP); graphical methods and applications; interpretation of graphical method results; graphical sensitivity analysis; simplex method and its applications; interpretation of simplex results; simplex sensitivity analysis; Using computer software in solving LP problems; duality ( duplicity ); transportation and assignment problems and solution algorithms; network problems and solution algorithms; |
The students who have succeeded in this course;
1) 1) Understand the concepts of modeling and optimization and distinguish between various optimization models 2) 2) Develop linear programming (DP) models using a real-life system problem definition 3) 3) Understand and apply different solution algorithms associated with linear programming problems ( DPPs ). 4) 4) Uses at least one software and/or decoder plugin to deal with DP issues. 5) 5) Critically analyze, interpret and present DP solutions in an understandable way. 6) 6) Applies DP to different advanced problems. |
