Course Objective and Content

Course Objectives: The course aims to depict the relevance of eu-Turkey relations for both sides and their significance in the post-war Europe. To this end, relations will be discussed in the context of their backgrounds, economic and security concerns and identities as well as ideologies.
Course Content: In this course, Turkey's interest to Europe and historical back ground of this interest will be explained. The historical perspective of the European Union and its emergence will be analyzed. Then relations between Turkey and EU, treaties will be examined. Finally, historical and current issue in this relation, Cyprus problem will be discussed.

1) Students will learn basic knowledge on Turkish-EU relations from the beginning
2) Students will learn differing approaches at different stages
3) Students will learn policies of different states in the context of Turkey
4) Students will learn current problems in the Turkish-EU relartions
