Course Objective and Content

Course Objectives: It aims to enable students to design stores by transferring general store design principles and having them do research on different store types, giving them the ability to solve the problems they will encounter when they start their professional life.
Course Content: To define the concept of first shopping together with trade routes, inns, caravanserais and markets throughout history. Sharing the current usage areas of the first shopping malls and stores and the designs made for this. Transferring the criteria and criteria to be taken as a basis in store design and then making store design sketches.

Learning Outcomes

The students who have succeeded in this course;
1) To shape the evaluation and design process in line with the theoretical and practical information produced in the field of architecture and art by constantly following the current publications and developments related to the interior architecture profession.
2) To be able to manage the process from design to implementation correctly by revealing the details for the application after maturing an interior architectural project at the design stage.
3) Being able to choose the right materials and application methods by having sufficient and up-to-date information about building materials and their applications.

Course Flow Plan

Week Subject Related Preparation
1) Introducing students and informing about store design.
2) Presentation about the first shopping concept and the first shopping places in history.
3) Presentation about the first shopping concept and the first shopping places in history.
4) Examining the first store samples formed with the developing community structure.
5) Examination of contemporary stores and discussion on design criteria. Assignment of research paper about the subject.
6) Debate on today's shopping centers and start a plan by selecting a shopping center.
7) Sketch work on the agreed shop plan and subject.
8) Drawing sketches on a 1/50 scale.
9) Cross-sections of 1/50 scale plans.
10) Transfer of drawn plans and sections to 1/20 scale.
11) Painting of 1/20 scale plans and sections and preparation of presentation files.
12) Painting of 1/20 scale plans and sections and preparation of presentation files.
13) Preparation of 1/20 scale project model.
