Course Objective and Content

Course Objectives: The aim of this course; to prepare the student for the changing role of the professional nurse and to provide safe, evidence-based and quality care service, taking into account the changing needs in healthcare environment where nursing service is provided, and the basic concepts and theories of nursing management and leadership, in the light of legal and ethical principles.
Course Content: This course focuses on the development of nurses' management functions and leadership roles within an organizational structure. This course includes management and leadership theories, organizational structure of healthcare organizations and nursing department, organizational communication, conflict management, problem solving and decision making, teamwork, quality improvement, problem solving and decision making, leadership, manpower planning, training and career development, and performance evaluation. Students do their clinical practice at MLP Care hospitals.

Learning Outcomes

The students who have succeeded in this course;
1) • Evaluates the management and organizational structure and functioning of the healthcare organization and the nursing department.
2) • Reports the use of organizational communication methods and tools in the healthcare organization and the nursing department.
3) • Evaluates the nurses (and her/himself) in the unit in terms of the effectiveness of teamwork.
4) • Uses scientific problem solving and evidence-based decision-making approach in solving problems related to nursing services.
5) • Evaluates the reflection of quality practices carried out in healthcare organization on patient and nursing outcomes.
6) • Evaluates human resources practices in nursing department.

1) Based on the qualifications gained in secondary education; Understand the concepts and concepts related to the field of health at the undergraduate level, and have advanced theoretical and practical knowledge supported by textbooks, application tools and other sources of current information in the field of health.
2) Knowledge of nature, source, limits, accuracy, reliability and validity of knowledge.
3) Uses the field-specific, advanced theoretical and factual knowledge acquired at the undergraduate level.
4) Interprets, evaluates, identifies, analyzes, shares information and makes team work by using the advanced knowledge and skills acquired in the field of health.
5) Use computer programs, related technologies and educational tools related to the field of health.
6) Carries out a study independently by using his advanced knowledge on the field of health and takes responsibility as a team member in cooperation with other professional groups working in this field.
