Course Objective and Content

Course Objectives: The aim of the course for each student;
Establish an understanding of the importance of health protection, preventive and improving health services of students in terms of public health; raise awareness for individuals to reach the public health nursing services they need, encourage them to use the right health resources in the society, ensure the development of their responsibilities regarding public health, and gain knowledge and skills to control the factors affecting public health.
Course Content: Knowledge and skills related to the role and functions specific to the main application areas of public health nursing, focusing on protecting, maintaining and improving the health of individuals, families and communities.

Learning Outcomes

The students who have succeeded in this course;
1) Define the basic concepts of public health, historical development of public health, basic principles of public health nursing.
2) Will be able to define the health and nursing services to be given to these groups by recognizing the characteristics of the groups at risk.
3) Will be able to learn and do basic nursing skills related to the application areas of public health.
4) Will be able to apply basic nursing skills such as evaluating the health status of service recipients, providing training to relevant individuals, and conducting general health examinations related to the practice areas of public health nurses.
5) Discuss the duties and responsibilities of public health nurses in their fields of work.

Course Flow Plan

1) Practice: Meeting with students, introduction of the lesson, application areas of the lesson, studies to be done, students' responsibilities regarding the application, introduction of application and evaluation forms, discussing on case studies. Submitting the forms to be delivered to the application areas. Historical development, working areas and roles of public health and public health nursing in the world and in our country.
