Course Objective and Content

Course Objectives: The aim of this course is to integrate the knowledge, attitudes, and skills acquired by the student during their education with the fundamental roles and functions of nursing. Within the scope of medical-surgical nursing, the course aims to equip students with the necessary knowledge, attitudes, and skills to protect and promote the health of adult individuals and to provide evidence-based care in situations where health is compromised.
Course Content: The course covers common chronic diseases, fluid and electrolyte balance, pain management, elderly health, cardiovascular, respiratory, gastrointestinal, renal, neurological, neoplastic, endocrine, hematological, and infectious diseases, as well as the nursing care associated with these conditions, both globally and in our country.

Learning Outcomes

The students who have succeeded in this course;
1) Recognizes the roles and functions of the nurse within the healthcare team in maintaining adult health, preventing acute and chronic diseases, early diagnosis, and providing holistic care in the event of illness.
2) Possesses the theoretical knowledge and practical skills necessary for the diagnosis, treatment, care, and rehabilitation of internal acute and chronic diseases.
3) Applies evidence-based nursing care tailored to the patient's needs, values, and socio-cultural characteristics, using critical thinking and ethical decision-making skills within the framework of the nursing process.
4) Prioritizes symptom management in the care of adult patients with internal diseases.
5) Recognizes the unique health problems and care needs of elderly individuals compared to adults.
