Course Objective and Content

Course Objectives: The Fundamentals of Profession course aim at teaching basic theories, principles, methods and basic skills
Course Content: The Fundamentals of Profession- course, teaching basic theories, principles, methods and basic skills to students and as well concepts and values of profession, implementations and that the of basic nursing skills, vocational important course in. This course is a follow up the basic concepts and values in nursing

Learning Outcomes

The students who have succeeded in this course;
1) Defining the purpose of nursing process, counting the steps of the nursing process, explaining the steps of the nursing process with a sample plan, applying the nursing process
2) To measure fever, pulse, respiration, blood pressure and oxygen saturation Listening to heart and lung sounds
3) To be able to make liquid-electrolyte, acid base evaluation, explain the indications of frequently used solutions
4) General body cleaning, skin, perineum, foot, nail and oral care to do initiatives To be able to position, move, make ROM exercises, use body mechanics correctly
5) To be able to say and apply the principles of oxygen therapy To be able to tell the steps of aspiration process and to be able to apply it on the model
6) To be able to tell the steps of Nazogastric probe installation process with the instructor or service nurse Preparing and applying medication with instructor or service nurse
7) To be able to apply medication to eye, nose, ear, vagina, rectum and inhalation To prepare and apply intradermal, subcutaneous, intramuscular and intravenous injection
8) to be able to apply intravenous fluid therapy To be able to tell blood transfusion process steps Pain control To be able to evaluate the pressure wound Hot-cold application
9) To be able to say the principles of total parenteral nutrition To explain the principles of nutrition through nasogastric tube, to evaluate the risk of aspiration, to explain enteral tubes, to explain total parenteral nutrition
10) To be able to tell the steps of bowel evacuation (sliders, enema application, rectal tube placement) with instructor or service nurse, to be able to apply on patient or model
11) To be able to define urine examinations, stool sample, blood and throat culture, sugar measurement, 24 st urine samples To be able to tell the steps of Foley catheterization process in the presence of instructor or service nurse
