Course Objective and Content

Course Objectives: To know the characteristics of infectious diseases and the chain of infection, to gain knowledge and skills for prevention of nosocomial infections, to gain knowledge and skills about prevention methods of infectious diseases, to understand the importance of early diagnosis of infectious diseases, to know the ways of transmission of infectious diseases, clinical findings, diagnosis and treatment The aim of this course is to teach nursing care skills by identifying care needs in infectious diseases.
Course Content: This course is to acquaint the student with the knowledge and skills for prevention of infectious diseases, causes of infectious diseases, diagnosis, treatment and nursing care.

Learning Outcomes

The students who have succeeded in this course;
1) Knows the epidemiology, history and importance of healthcare related infections.
2) Knows sterilization and disinfection, isolation methods.
3) Knows the common infection factors in the hospital and applies nursing care.
4) Knows and applies precautions to be taken for protection from healthcare related infections.
5) Knows special area infections and infection control measures.
