Course Objectives: | The course for each student aims to provide students with basic theoretical and practical information about the physical principles, physiological effects, application methods, indications and contraindications, and hazards of heat and light modalities and to develop student's skills in applying treatment methods. |
Course Content: | Basic information for the use of modalities (inflammation, healing mechanism and pain), general information about heat and light (sources, laws, physical and physiological effects, use in physiotherapy), properties of thermal modalities (Hotpack, Paraffin, Infrared, Ultraviolet, Cold, Whirlpool Baths, Fluidotherapy, Ultrasound and Short Wave Diathermy) and non-thermal modalities (Laser, Extracorporeal Shock Wave Therapy, Biofeedback, Magnetotherapy, Mechanical Spinal Traction), diseases in which they are used and application methods. |
The students who have succeeded in this course;
1) Competence in selecting the appropriate treatment modality for different diseases 2) Ability to assess the patient and determine physical agent requirements 3) Competence in the principles and application of treatment modality in clinical conditions |
