Course Objective and Content

Course Objectives: Examines the definition, history and basic principles of occupational therapy. Discuss the social activities and adaptation of life activities.
Course Content: This course includes history of ergotherapy, general terms related to occupational therapy, explanation of the function classification of the World Health Organization related to apology, Disability, quality of life, participation and occupational therapy, Self-directedness, person-centered study, holistic approach, multi-faceted view, discussion of the subjects related to peer education in the classroom, History of mental health services, Disability and psychological aspects, Explaining the relationship between person, activity and environment in relation to disorder and participation, Discussing the social aspect of ergotherapy, Explaining the connections between health, social justice, and occupational therapy through real life examples and discussing in class, World Ergotherapy Federation and presentation of information in the classroom about their work, Evaluation and discussion of treatment areas: activities of daily living, assistive activities of daily living, rest and sleep, education, study. Discussing treatment approaches: Acute and long-term care facilities, residential and daily programs, specialized geriatric services, community-based mental health services, schools, military rehabilitation centers, workplaces, health, well-being and occupational therapy. a review of the literature on activity, disability, participation and ergotherapy.

Learning Outcomes

The students who have succeeded in this course;
1) Defines the basic concepts of ergotherapy.
2) Recognize the applications in the field of ergotherapy.
3) Define the occupational occupational and occupational therapist's responsibilities.
4) Recognize the principles of working with other health professionals in the rehabilitator's team.
5) List the tasks of ergotherapist.
6) Explains effective communication methods in the field of health.
7) Know the importance of the relationship between the patient and the environment, describes the activities of daily activities and leisure.
8) Recognize basic approaches in ergotherapy.
