Course Objective and Content

Course Objectives: The aim of this course is to obtain technical knowledge, application and preparation skills about natural resources carrying these active substance groups and their effects and uses.
Course Content: To introduce natural source pharmaceutical raw materials. Cultivation of medicinal plants, collection, drying, stabilization, chemical structure of drugs, inorganic substances, organic acids, plant enzymes, lipids, carbohydrates, monosaccharide derivatives, obtaining sugar from plant material, identification, quantification, homogeneous polysaccharides, heterogeneous polysaccharides, tannins, classification of glycosides, diagnosis, methods of obtaining.

Learning Outcomes

The students who have succeeded in this course;
1) The student will have general knowledge about natural drug raw materials and the infrastructure related to the drugs obtained from these drug raw materials.
2) Obtains primary and secondary metabolites from natural sources.
3) Knows, distinguishes and obtains secondary metabolites, pharmacological activities of medicinal, poisonous and narcotic plants according to their phytochemistry.
4) Performs quality control in natural resources.
