Course Objective and Content

Course Objectives: The aim of this course for each student is; The aim of this course is to provide students with the ability to conduct evidence-based research, identify the problem / deficiency and search for solutions, conduct theoretical / computational / wet experiments in laboratories, evaluate and discuss data correctly, reach solutions and conclusions, and present results.
Course Content: Within the scope of this course, students will have experimental/theoretical knowledge and experience about their project in the field of pharmacy. During the course, students will gain the skills of literature review, problem solving skills, method learning and/or development, data acquisition, interpretation and sharing the results with their stakeholders as written and oral presentations. In this context, this course aims to identify the relevant problem or gap in the field of pharmacy in the literature, to seek a solution to the identified problem or gap, to determine the method / ways of reaching the solution, to obtain experimental and / or theoretical data, to analyze data and to interpret these data by comparing them with the literature, to conclude. and presenting the results in national and/or international project format by discussing. Students taking this course are required to fulfill their expected research responsibilities.

Learning Outcomes

The students who have succeeded in this course;
1) Define the ways of knowing, explain the scientific method.
2) Recognize the types of research in general, list the stages of the research process, know the ethical rules to be followed in the research process.
3) Conducts literature research.
4) Identifies the problem or deficiency in pharmacy, discusses the solutions to the problem and deficiency, identifies and develops the methods to reach the solution.
5) Writes a scientific research project and gets involved in a project.
6) Obtains experimental and/or theoretical data, analyzes and discusses data.

4) Problem Solving Techniques Explain the concept of problem solving. Lists and discusses the steps and process of problem solving. Explains and discusses the importance of Problem Solving in Healthcare, Bird's Triangle and Reason's Swiss Cheese Model
5) Problem Solving Techniques Explains software algorithms that can be used in problem solving, discusses the 37% rule. Defines different personality types in terms of approaching problems. Discusses cognitive biases and how they can be reduced.
6) Problem Solving Techniques Explain the concept of creative problem solving with examples and solve problems using the brainstorming technique. Discusses the six-hat method, CORT and TRIZ thinking tools

8) Problem Solving Techniques Discusses collaborative and evidence-based problem solving skills. Example constructs H0 and H1 hypotheses. Explain the p value. Lists and discusses evidence-based writing practices. Discusses the principles of writing his findings using scientific language
