Course Objective and Content

Course Objectives: The purposes of this course are to have the students gain -the knowledge about the maternal-child health, childhood diseases, cycles of pregnancy, child birth, acute and contiguous diseases, prevention and protection from those diseases, and first and in emergency situations and have the students -the skills to employ the first aid rules and actions in emergency situations
Course Content: Description of maternal-child health, situation of child health in Turkey and in the world, conception, child development in prenatal period, effects of risky conditions such as diseases and accident in pregnancy on child development, physical development (e.g., teeth, height, weight) and its follow-up during the first six years of childhood, child diseases (e.g., diary, respiration infections, immunizations and dermal diseases, parasitical infections) and prevention strategies during the first six years of childhood, vaccination, health problems in period of women life, family planning, some major injuries and prevention strategies, first aid rules and actions teachers must do in emergency situations.

Learning Outcomes

The students who have succeeded in this course;
1) Students define the maternal-child health and explain the situation of child health in Turkey and in the world
2) Students summarize the conception and development of child during the prental period
3) Students explain the effects of risky conditions such as diseases and accident in pregnancy on child development
4) Students inform physical development (e.g., teeth, height, weight) and its follow-up during the first six years of childhood
5) Students explain child diseases (e.g., diary, respiration infections, immunizations and dermal diseases, parasitical infections) and prevention strategies during the first six years of childhood
6) Students present about health problems in period of women life
