Course Objective and Content

Course Objectives: Provide students the acquisition of skills in the following areas: Useing the tools for assessing social-emotional, cognitive, motor, language and self-care development of children in 0-18 age groups; developmental to identify the requirements, the ability to write progress reports, preparation and implementation of developmental support program, making developmental monitoring.
Course Content: Developmental assessment tools for children in 0-18 age range, developmental assessment techniques, developmental assessment report writing, generating appropriate advice for developmental support and preparation of developmental support programs, fieldwork.

Learning Outcomes

The students who have succeeded in this course;
1) Identifying developmental assessment tools for children in the age group 0-18
2) Choosing developmentally appropriate methods, techniques and assessment tools for children and taking child’s needs into consideration, assessing children’s development accordingly.
3) Determining child’s developmental status and needs according to assessment results using the appropriate tool.
4) Preparing developmental assessment report and informing the family about it.
5) In accordance with the information acquired from the assessment tool used, preparing developmental support program, generating appropriate advice for optimal development of the child and directing the family to the relevant professionals when necessary.
6) Demonstrating skills for using developmental assessment tools effectively.
7) Develops a monitoring plan as a result of developmental assessment.
8) Preparing relevant interview forms, observation forma and/or checklists.
9) Analyzing and interpreting various cases.
