Course Objectives: | In the course, the student will be provided with the knowledge and skills to introduce special needs, to recognize children with special needs in professional practice and to direct them to the necessary institutions. |
Course Content: | In the course, students are informed about what special education is, legislation and current situation, characteristics of children with special needs, characteristics of families, and special education approaches in early childhood. |
The students who have succeeded in this course;
1) Basic concepts in special education: child in need of special education; Researches statistics on children with special needs. 2) Definition of special education; history defines the terms disability. 3) Understands attitudes towards disabled people and their reasons. 4) Has information about the special education system in Turkey. 5) Explains what an individualized education program is and how it is done. |
