Course Objectives: | The aim of this course; 1. To know the principles of management and organization in the operating room, surgical instruments and patient preparation, 2. To provide them with knowledge about sterile table preparation and assisting the surgeon in surgeries, and to be able to dominate the postoperative process. |
Course Content: | The content of this course; History of Surgery - Exit Fields of Surgery, Perioperative Process, Preparation for Surgery (Patient and Room Preparation), Surgical Hand Washing - Surgical Dressing, Preparation and Opening of Sterile, Package and Sterile Pack, Positioning the Patient in Surgery - Painting the Patient and Covering the Patient, Surgical Instruments, It consists of Surgical Wound and Dressing, Types of Surgical Incisions and Sutures, Medical Consumables, Counting and Recording of Materials, Patient Safety in the Operating Room, Waste Management in the Operating Room. |
The students who have succeeded in this course;
1) Knows the history of surgery. 2) Performs surgical hand washing and wearing of open-closed technical gloves. 3) Ability to count materials used in surgery 4) Applies sterile shirt wear-dressing. 5) Pre-operative preparation of the operating room 6) Explains patient and worker safety in operating room. 7) Ability to cover the patient with a sterile drape 8) Ability to define perioperative period responsibilities 9) Ability to practice wearing open-closed technical gloves 10) To be able to define the importance of safety in electrosurgery 11) Ability to wash and maintain materials 12) Knowing the features and content of surgical sets 13) Ensuring that materials are stored in appropriate places and conditions |
