Course Objective and Content

Course Objectives: The aim of the course is to enable the students to have basic knowledge about oral diseases, to learn the mechanism of caries formation and to understand the importance of oral health on the general health of the individual. It is aimed to adopt and apply basic hygiene motivation information.
Course Content: General information about oral dental health, recognition of oral microorganisms, teaching the mechanism of caries formation and understanding of the effects of oral health on general health. To share the basic knowledge of oral health care in the community and to provide students with the hygiene motivation competence.

Learning Outcomes

The students who have succeeded in this course;
1) He/ She defines basic oral environment microbiology.
2) He/ She explains the effects of bacteria, virus and infection on oral health.
3) He/ She Defines the intra-oral findings of certain diseases.
4) He/ She explains the basic morphology and characteristics of dental structures.
5) He/ She defines general dental hygiene motivation to learn dental caries formation mechanism and prevent caries formation.
6) Explains the effects of dental losses on general health, explains the role of dentistry in the field of preventive medicine and provides the necessary contribution as assistant personnel in this field.
