Course Objective and Content

Course Objectives: The aim of this course is to enable students to develop skills in creating and editing two-dimensional (2D) technical drawings using AutoCAD software. Students will learn to effectively use fundamental AutoCAD functions such as drawing tools, editing commands, layer management, dimensioning, adding text, creating blocks, plotting, and layout preparation. By the end of the course, students will be able to produce professional 2D projects, including interior plans and furniture designs.
Course Content: This course covers techniques for creating and editing two-dimensional (2D) drawings using AutoCAD software. Topics include drawing panel commands, editing tools, layer management, dimensioning, adding text, block creation and management, import/export functions, layout creation, and plotting. Through hands-on practice, students will develop professional-level skills in producing interior design and furniture layout drawings in an AutoCAD environment.

Learning Outcomes

The students who have succeeded in this course;
1) Use fundamental menus and tools of AutoCAD software effectively.
2) Apply basic drawing and editing commands for 2D technical drafting.
3) Perform layer management, dimensioning, and text insertion accurately.
4) Use block creation, import/export operations, and plotting methods.
5) Design practical projects such as interior layouts and furniture arrangements.
6) Implement layout preparation and different saving methods.
7) Develop professional 2D projects in an AutoCAD environment.

1) Introduction to AutoCAD menus and main topics (File, Edit, View, Insert, Format, Tools, Draw, Dimension, Modify, Parametric, Windows, Help, Express); Adjusting AutoCAD settings (Options). None

4) Introduction to 2D drawing tools (Draw toolbar commands) and practice. None
5) Layer and Layer Tools: Selection operations, zoom commands, creating and modifying hatches, introduction to layers and properties. None
6) Introduction to text, dimensioning, and numbering features. None
7) Writing and editing text, creating tables, using Quick Select command; Discussion on Midterm Project. None

9) Creating and managing blocks; Introduction to plotting features; 2D drawing of interiors and furniture placement. None
