Course Objective and Content

Course Objectives: This course includes basic electrophysiology, recognition and interpretation of arrhythmias, safe treatment of arrhythmias, and nursing care practices.
Course Content: Essentials of Electrocardiography (ECG) is intended to fill in the gaps of knowledge of anatomy of the heart, electrophysiology, and basic ECG administration and interpretation. After completing this course, students will be able to complete ECGs in the field, describe introductory cardiovascular anatomy, relationships of other body systems to heart health, patient assessment techniques, instructions on how to complete and document ECGs, and basic interpretation of ECG tracings.

1) Lists the characteristics of basic arrhythmias.
2) Recognizes arrhythmias that require urgent intervention.
3) Identifies medical emergencies related to ECG
