Course Objective and Content

Course Objectives: The aim of this course is to equip students with the knowledge and skills to realize the changes that aging creates in bio-psycho-social dimensions, to provide health protection and development practices for individuals in this period, early diagnosis and treatment approaches, management of chronic diseases, the conditions necessary for them to remain in an active life, and quality care in accordance with cultural and moral values.
Course Content: This course includes topics that will equip the student to evaluate the health of the elderly individual, manage acute and chronic health problems, apply nursing interventions according to health protection levels, discuss elderly care services in our country and around the world, know the roles and responsibilities of the elderly health nurse, and provide end-of-life care.

Learning Outcomes

The students who have succeeded in this course;
1) Knows the characteristics of the elderly population in our country and evaluates the health of the elderly individual.
2) Discusses elderly care services in our country and around the world,
3) Manages acute and chronic health problems of the elderly individual
4) Fulfills the roles and responsibilities of the Elderly Health Nurse according to the levels of health protection,
