Course Objective and Content

Course Objectives: This course aims to provide students with general competencies regarding both the equipment used in the laboratory and the biomedical devices used to detect diseases. It is aimed to convey to students the necessary theoretical knowledge about the physical laws infrastructure of device hardware and to learn technical information about the purposes for which the devices are used.
Course Content: Cell Culture, Cell Culture laboratory design, Cell Culture Applications, Evaluation tests of Effects on Cells, Medical Devices used in the Laboratory and Their Purposes, Biomechanics and flexibility, fluids, sound and hearing, electrostatics, biopotentials, electric current and electronics, EEG, EMG and ECG study principles, Image Formation in Ultrasound and its Applications in the Clinic, X-ray Formation and its Applications in the Clinic, Image Formation in MR (Magnetic Resonance) and its Applications in the Clinic, Devices Used in Clinical Applications 1: X-ray, Mammography, DEXA, Devices Used in Clinical Applications 2: CT, MRI, SPECT/CT, PET/CT, PET/MR

Learning Outcomes

The students who have succeeded in this course;
1) Gains knowledge in the field of cells and cell research.
2) Have general information about laboratory design for cell culture.
3) Gain an idea about cell culture applications.
4) Have information about the devices used in the laboratory and their purposes.
5) Have knowledge about EEG, EMG and ECG used in the clinic.
6) Gains knowledge about the working principles of the devices used in imaging in the clinic and for what purpose they are used.
7) Gains knowledge about the working principles of the devices used in imaging in the clinic and for what purpose they are used.
8) Gains knowledge about devices used in the field of Nuclear Medicine such as Gamma camera, SPECT, PET.
