Course Objectives: | Understanding the foundations and content of development and learning. To learn cognitive development, moral development according to personality development, behaviorist and cognitive approaches, and to acquire learning styles and strategies. |
Course Content: | To explain concepts based on the basic principles of psychology. To understand student behavior within the scope of developmental and learning psychology and to acquire the necessary behavior regulation methods and skills. To contribute to the professional and personality development of students. To benefit from the knowledge of developmental psychology in learning and teaching. To explain the factors affecting learning. Explaining the basics of learning. Explain and elaborate learning theories. Trying to understand the relationships between learning theories. Using learning theories in teaching and learning. |
The students who have succeeded in this course;
1) Explains the meaning, scope and function of the concept of psychology. List the history of psychology and the approaches that guide the science of psychology. Explains the views on the need and importance of the field of development and learning psychology science. Explains the methods used in developmental and learning psychology. List the research techniques used in developmental and learning psychology. 2) Recognize psychosocial development theories. Explains the stages of psychosocial development according to developmental periods. 3) Defines concepts related to physical and motor growth. Explains physical and motor development in pre-school, primary and secondary education. Distinguishes physical and motor development differences according to gender differences. It introduces the symptoms of sexual development in boys and girls. Lists responsibilities regarding physical and motor development during the teaching process. 4) Explains the Concept of Learning Psychology. Explains the formation process of learning according to the behaviorist approach. Discusses the differences and similarities in the approaches of behavioral theorists. List the basic principles of behaviorist learning theory. Explains the effects of previous experiences on behavior and learning. 5) Social Learning Theory Understands social learning theory. Explains the relationship between model and observer. Lists the basic principles of the theory. Explains learning processes in social learning theory. List social learning theory and educational principles. 6) Explains the basic concepts of Gestalt Theory. Lists how to use the laws of Gestalt theory in practice. Explains the positive aspects and limitations of Gestalt theory. Evaluates the basic concepts, principles, positive aspects and limitations of the humanistic approach. 7) Explains the information flow process in mental structure. List memory types and their properties. It distinguishes which type of information is stored in which memory. Explains how to use cognitive processes effectively in the act of learning. It determines which stage of the cognitive process the learning deficits arise from. Explains executive functions. Introduces the information processing model and compares it with other learning theories. 8) List the factors affecting learning. List the factors related to the learner. In learning; Explains the concepts of age, intelligence, motivation, general arousal and anxiety, physiological state, and transfer of previous learning. Explains individual differences in learning and their consequences. 9) Biological Foundations of Learning Understands the biological foundations of learning. Explains how learning outcomes are recorded in the brain. It explains between which parts of the brain thinking, cognition and learning occur. 10) Explains the basic concepts of learning and teaching. Recognizes the quality of learning. Distinguishes between innate and learned behaviors. 11) It defines personality. Understands different theoretical views about personality development and makes evaluations in terms of personality development. Evaluates the relationship of personality development theories with educational processes. Explains the process of moral development within the framework of moral development theories. Lists the requirements of a healthy moral development scientifically. 12) Explains terms related to cognitive development and language development. Explains Piaget's theory of cognitive development. Discusses different views on language development. Evaluates the impact of developmental principles on ensuring children's cognitive and language development. |
