Course Objective and Content

Course Objectives: The purpose of this course is to raise awareness and empower nurses to ensure patient outcomes, protect patients against social injustice, and eliminate barriers to quality patient care.
Course Content: This course covers the concept of patient advocacy, educating patients about the healthcare system, respecting the dignity of patients, treating all patients equally, protecting their rights and preventing unnecessary suffering, supporting patient autonomy, communicating accurately and timely with the healthcare team on behalf of the patient, educating patients' relatives, and having healthier working conditions for patients.

Learning Outcomes

The students who have succeeded in this course;
1) Becomes aware of the difficulties patients face in making decisions within the health system.
2) Discusses how to help patients make decisions about their care and treatment.
3) Coordinate communication between relevant healthcare professionals to help patients overcome decision-making difficulties.
