Course Objective and Content

Course Objectives: With this course, it is aimed for the doctoral student to know the status of women's mental health and diseases in the world and in Turkey, to know the psychological/psychiatric problems experienced according to women's developmental periods, to know the situations related to maternal mental health in pregnancy, birth and postpartum period, and to be able to implement initiatives to protect and improve maternal mental health.
Course Content: Concept of mental health, the situation of women's mental health in the world and in Turkey, Characteristics of individuals with and without mental health, Mental health and women's mental health in the historical process, Diagnostic classification systems of psychiatric diseases (DSM and ICD), World mental health profile, Turkey's mental health profile Health profile, General profile on the state of women's mental health, Mental status assessment and interview with the individual with psychiatric problems, Psychotic disorders and women, Mood disorders and women, Anxiety disorders and women, Periods Affecting Women's Mental Health-I, Periods Affecting Women's Mental Health -II, Periods Affecting Women's Mental Health -III, Neurophysiological Differences between Men and Women, Reproductive health problems of psychiatric patients, XI., Violence against women.

Learning Outcomes

The students who have succeeded in this course;
1) Ability to evaluate psychiatric conditions specific to pregnancy and postpartum period
2) Knowing the psychological changes in reproductive health-related situations specific to women's adolescence, adulthood and old age, or the psychiatric conditions specific to these periods
3) Understanding the effects of psychiatric diseases on women's reproductive health
