Course Objective and Content

Course Objectives: Spa and thalassotherapy applications, balneotherapy methods, SPA-Wellness applications, Thermomineral waters, peloides and their different application methods, the purpose of use of rheumatic diseases in Balneology, to learn the diseases used and not used. The baths, which are made with thermo-mineral water, aim to obtain information about the techniques necessary for the applications in the field of physiotherapy, the methods of drinking, inhalation, and other complementary methods that can be integrated into SPA Wellness concepts and spa treatment.
Course Content: Balneological sources and purposes of use in medicine, dosages and methods, additional treatments that can be applied together and information on SPA Wellness, as well as the climatic characteristics of the treatment environments and a special place sea water and environment are introduced. In the courses, balneological waters, effects of water with different properties, usage characteristics, peloides, varieties, therapeutic effects and methods of evaluation, sea water and marine environment, and bioclimatic characteristics of other natural treatment environments are described. The aim of the spa treatment including rheumatic diseases and the mechanism of action and the different application methods of water.

3) Recognize SPA and Wellness applications.
4) Recognize thermo-mineral waters, peloids and their different application methods.
5) Explain the mechanism of action of balneotherapy.
6) Demonstrates problem solving and decision making skills.
7) Recognizes the purpose of the use of balneology in rheumatic diseases, and the situations in which it is used and not used.
8) List mineral spring, inhalation methods and purposes.
9) Explains other complementary methods that can be integrated into spa treatment.
