Course Objective and Content

Course Objectives: The aim of the course is to give information about the way the child is perceived in Turkish society and other societies, as well as to provide basic information about family, environment, peer interaction, education and children's games that play a role in the cultural structure of the child.
Course Content: Child phenomenon in different cultures and in Turkey;
The understanding and view of the child in different societies and Turkish society;
Developments in the perception of child and childhood;
Children's games in different cultures;
Examples of traditions and customs related to children;
Child education in different cultures;
Cultural characteristics in child rearing.

Learning Outcomes

The students who have succeeded in this course;
1) Students will have information about the way the child is perceived in Turkish society and other societies.
2) Students will have general knowledge about children's games for different cultures.
3) Students know that there are different practices related to child education in different cultures.
4) Students learn about child rearing styles in different cultures and gain a critical perspective.
5) Students learn about different traditions and customs related to children.

4) To understand the basic concepts, approaches and theories related to the field of child development, relate the current experiences with national and international developments.
