Course Objective and Content

Course Objectives: This course is designed to meet the needs of students in Child Development who wish to develop their English content knowledge and language skills and use them correctly and appropriately.
Course Content: This course, designed for the students of the Department of Child Development, mainly includes the teaching of written and oral language skills in Child Development and the subjects in this field and activities to support the development of these skills. This course is also designed to support students in learning and developing the field concepts and terminology that they will need in both academic and professional settings.

Learning Outcomes

The students who have succeeded in this course;
1) Define the basic concepts and terms in the field of Child Development
2) To be able to express personal opinions (in written and oral language) on different topics in the fields related to Child Development,
3) Analyze and evaluate cases in the context of Child Development and write short reports
4) Identify problems related to child development and propose solutions
5) Can reach the correct information by analyzing the text using appropriate techniques and strategies in written texts related to the field (e.g. Finding the main idea, reaching general and detailed information, distinguishing real information and opinion expressions, etc.),
6) Use the language in the field effectively and appropriately, especially in written language

2) Word Study: - Basic Concepts and Terms - Coping with vocabulary: What does it mean to know vocabulary? - Some Techniques and strategies for vocabulary learning and reinforcement Writing: - Defining basic concepts in Child Development
3) Case Analysis 1: Case Analysis Steps: Case Analysis - Analyze the case - Identify and define the problem - Identify and define the source of the problem - Propose solutions Homework: Online preparation activity for the Case Analysis practice in Week 5 (to be done before the face-to-face class)
