| Course Objectives: | The aim is to enable students to gain knowledge and awareness about child abuse and neglect, to distinguish its types, and to plan preventive measures. |
| Course Content: | A general overview of the issue within the framework of fundamental concepts related to child abuse and neglect, including the historical development of the concept of the child, children`s rights, the state of child abuse and neglect in the world and in Turkey, legal regulations and mechanisms for combating child abuse and neglect, the development of safe behaviors in children and the effects of abuse and neglect on children, child neglect and its types, physical, emotional and sexual abuse, pedophilia and incest within the scope of sexual abuse, and efforts to prevent child abuse and neglect. |

The students who have succeeded in this course;
1) Explains the basic concepts and scope of child abuse and neglect. 2) Explains the historical development of the concept of childhood and the fundamental principles of children`s rights. 3) Explain the scope and content of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child. 4) It provides a comparative assessment of the situation of child abuse and neglect in the world and in Turkey. 5) Explains and interprets legal regulations and mechanisms for combating child abuse and neglect. 6) Analyzes the development of safe behaviors in children and the short-term and long-term effects of abuse and neglect on children. 7) Differentiates between child neglect and physical, emotional, and sexual abuse, and explains their characteristics. 8) Evaluates cases of child abuse and neglect through case examples. 9) Plans and implements protective and preventive measures to prevent child abuse and neglect. |
