Course Objective and Content

Course Objectives: To prepare the student for academic-based studies (articles, seminars, papers, thesis, etc.) by explaining the process of determining the subject, purpose, importance, limitations for a scientific study, forming hypotheses and the use of resources, and the rules to be considered during the writing phase.
Course Content: The seminar course is a basic course in which the necessary information is given for the studies to be carried out during the thesis period of the graduate students to have a scientific quality.

Learning Outcomes

The students who have succeeded in this course;
1) To have general knowledge about what needs to be done in order to do a scientific study
2) Knowledge of resource identification and collection
3) Fundamentals of topic determination
4) To be able to determine the method to be used in the scientific study to be done
5) To know the rules to be considered in the reference

Course Flow Plan

1) What is knowledge, scientific knowledge?
2) To be able to produce scientific knowledge using research and scientific method.
3) What are the aims and characteristics of the research? What are the characteristics of a good research topic?
4) What are the factors that motivate the researcher? How to identify problems in research? What are the importance and limitations of this question?
5) Data collection stages in research.
6) What are research methodologies? (Quantitative-qualitative)
7) Establishing the theory, hypothesis, hypothesis relationship
8) Evaluating research results, interpreting, developing suggestions.
9) Rules to follow when quoting
10) General survey on the subject planned to be studied
