Course Objective and Content

Course Objectives: To identify and examine the properties of the natural and synthetic compounds that affect the endocrine system such as phytoestrogens, organohalogens, pesticides, phthalates, plant growth regulators, dioxins and polychlorinated biphenyls, heavy metals, and some plastics, etc., to examine the possible mechanisms of action, risk analyzes of endocrine disruptors and to evaluate their effects on health.
Course Content: Definition and classification of endocrine disruptors, natural and synthetic endocrine disruptors and their properties, mechanisms of action, legal regulations and their effects on health.

Learning Outcomes

The students who have succeeded in this course;
1) To obtain general information about endocrine-disrupting chemicals and hormones.
2) To gain information about the classification and properties of natural and synthetic endocrine disruptors.
3) To gain information about the bioaccumulation and metabolism of endocrine disruptors.
4) To learn the possible mechanisms of action of endocrine disruptors.
