Course Objectives: | To determine how the energy balance is provided in biological systems, to evaluate the interactions of the factors involved in energy balance regulation regarding body weight and composition, to examine the pathophysiological conditions that occur when energy balance cannot be achieved, to determine the importance of energy balance and body weight regulation in the treatment and prevention of nutrition-related diseases. |
Course Content: | Within the scope of this course, genetic, physiological, psychological and biochemical processes effective in energy intake and expenditure; methods used in the assessment of body weight and body composition; The relationship of energy balance and body weight regulation with chronic diseases and the management of body weight regulation will be discussed. |
The students who have succeeded in this course;
1) Interactions between energy balance, nutrient balance and body weight are learned 2) It is determined how the regulation of macronutrient metabolism is achieved at the cellular and whole body level. 3) Factors affecting food choice are determined 4) It is learned how the behavioral and biological regulation of energy intake and expenditure is provided. 5) Pathophysiological conditions associated with energy imbalance and their mechanisms are evaluated. 6) The interaction between appetite control and the obesogenic environment is evaluated 7) It is optimally determined in the prevention of energy balance disorders. |
