Course Objective and Content

Course Objectives: The aim of this course is to provide the student with systematic knowledge and skills to define the basic concepts of occupational health and occupational diseases, to understand the diseases that affect worker health and originate from the working environment, their importance, risk groups, protective methods and the role of the occupational health specialist in first aid, to protect and improve occupational health and safety. In addition, it is to provide information about industrial hygiene and occupational hygiene training given by OHS specialists, which constitute the first stage of diseases.
Course Content: The main content of the course is the definition of occupational disease, its historical development, the causes and types of occupational diseases, the ways of protection from occupational diseases, occupational diseases in the world and in Turkey, legislation related to occupational diseases in Turkish law, the concept of hygiene, the concept of occupational hygiene and the training to be given in the sector.

Learning Outcomes

The students who have succeeded in this course;
1) Defines occupational disease, knows its situation in the world and in Turkey
2) Knows occupational diseases and their types
3) Knows the exposure standards required for the formation of occupational diseases according to the regulation
4) Gain knowledge of risk control strategies, risk management and monitoring in the workplace.
5) Can explain the definition and working areas of Industrial Hygiene
6) Knows the diseases that can be exposed in the workplace and the ways of protection from these diseases, and the selection of PPE that should be used.
