Course Objective and Content

Course Objectives: To analyze the ideas and ideologies on the back side of art and literature, to discuss the relationship between literature and reality and to make comparisons between theorists who put forward an idea about the subject.
Course Content: In this course, the relationship between art and literature and ideology will be examined. Comments will be made on the relationship between literature and reality through various theorists. It will be discussed within the framework of semiotics, in which literature carries the traces of the author or the society, identity, and idea groups, secretly or openly, to varying degrees. In this context, especially socialist realist and critical realist movements will be introduced. In addition, theorists such as Bahtin, Lukacs, Auerbach, Rene Wellek, Terry Eagleton, Althusser, Macherey, Roland Barthes will be emphasized.

Learning Outcomes

The students who have succeeded in this course;
1) To be able to develop an analysis, comparison and dialectical approach.
2) To be able to read between the lines in a literary text, to make inferences.
