Course Objective and Content

Course Objectives: Course Objectives The main aim of the course is to make the student gain an understanding of the individual and social antecedents and consequences of discrimination, as well as to recognize anti-discrimination laws.
Course Content: Within the scope of the Human Rights and Discrimination course, basic information about the concepts of stereotype, prejudice and discrimination will be given, and individual and social variables related to these concepts will be included. In addition, laws related to discrimination and human rights at the national and international level will be discussed.

Learning Outcomes

The students who have succeeded in this course;
1) Students who successfully complete the course; Defines the concepts of stereotype, prejudice and discrimination and knows their relationship with each other.
2) Knows the basic theories (social identity, social contact, relative deprivation, etc.) related to prejudice and discrimination.
3) Discusses the individual and social antecedents and consequences of discrimination.
4) Knows the principle of equality and anti-discrimination laws. Knows the place of legal regulations in the fight against discrimination.
5) Evaluates the situations related to discrimination faced in daily life with a critical point of view within the framework of the theories and concepts he knows. Produces suggestions for reducing discrimination and struggling discrimination.
