Course Objective and Content

Course Objectives: Within the scope of Community Oral and Dental Health Practical Courses, it is to increase the level of knowledge about oral health promoting and improving programs, the applicability, planning, execution and evaluation of these programs by creating knowledge and behavior to protect oral health in the society.
Course Content: This course; Examining the Attitude and Behavior of the Society towards Oral and Dental Care Habits and Treatment Service Usage, Examining the Prevalence and Severity of Dental Caries and Periodontal Diseases in the Society/Causes, The Concept of Health Management / Dentistry Service of the Modern Age / Changing Paradigm and Its Components, Health Promotion - First Stage Health Education, Health Education Theory and Models-Health Education Communication Skills, Community-Oriented Nutrition Education -Evidence-Based Dentistry / Practice, Dentist's Social Responsibility Area / Oral Health Improvement Model Project / Bilecik / Results, Community Based Oral-Dental Planning, Implementation and Evaluation of Studies to Improve Health, Evaluation of fluorine use methods used in Community Based programs, examination of risks in terms of acute and chronic toxicity, Basic Concepts of Health Economics and Health Economics applications in Dentistry Services, Turkey Financial Resources in General and Oral and Dental Health Services, Epidemiology of Some Oral Diseases and Disorders (oral cancers-dental traumas-developmental enamel disorders), primary prevention methods and Importance for Community Oral and Dental Health, Examples of health education in groups with special care needs; includes topics

Learning Outcomes

The students who have succeeded in this course;
1) To know the prevalence and severity values ​​and health status of oral and dental diseases in the society
2) To know the effect of behavioral factors on oral and dental health and to apply methods of protecting and improving oral and dental health.
3) Know the cultural, environmental and social factors that drive health and disease and acquire communication skills in service delivery
4) To understand the relationship between oral health and nutrition and to develop nutritional recommendations in health education.
5) To know all the programs that can be applied to the individual and society for the improvement of oral and dental health
6) To know the epidemiological evaluation methods that can be used to identify risk groups and risk factors in community-based programs
7) To know the place of health economics and assessment methods
