Course Objective and Content

Course Objectives: This course; It covers the terminology of stress, fight-or-flight response and physiological responses to stress, the general adaptation syndrome, stress symptoms, sources of stress, stress and illness, adaptive and maladaptive behaviors, occupational stress, burnout, compassion fatigue, resilience, stress management techniques: Relaxation, breathing exercises, meditation, physical exercise, managing time-related stress, nutrition and healthy lifestyle
Course Content: At the end of this course, students are able to
1. Define stress, and learn the terminology of stress
2. Explain fight-or-flight response and physiological responses to stress
3. Learn the general adaptation syndrome
4. Tell stress symptoms
5. Explain sources of stress
6. Establish the relationship between stress and illness
7. Know adaptive and maladaptive behaviors
8. Learn occupational stress, burnout, compassion fatigue
9. Learn resilience concept
10. Learn stress management techniques: Relaxation, breathing exercises, meditation, physical exercise, managing time-related stress, nutrition and healthy lifestyle
